The Isle of Man’s First Real Ale Festival
The Campaign For Real Ale’s (CAMRA) Isle of Man branch is holding its inaugural Real Ale
Festival this year. It will be held at
The Masonic Hall, Woodbourne Road, Douglas from Thursday 12
th
April to Saturday 14
th
April.
CAMRA’s aim is to celebrate and popularise the huge diversity of beers that are brewed in
the British Isles. From session bitters, to stronger richer ales, hoppy IPA style beers, to
darker brews such as milds, stouts and porters – these will be featured at the Festival. So
it’s a wonderful chance to try different styles of beers and see which ones take your fancy.
Beers will be sold in third and half pint measures, as well as full pints, so you can try quite a
variety during a session.
Which beers are on offer?
Over 60 different real ales plus ciders, perries and fruit wines will be available. The theme
for the Festival –
Beers from the Seven Kingdoms
- celebrates the Island’s central location
in the British Isles. Beers from England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland will be available
together with some excellent brews from the Kingdom of Mann. The other two Kingdoms are those that can be seen from the top of Snaefell – weather permitting – the Kingdoms of Neptune and Heaven. The organising committee have an interesting challenge to select beers to represent those two Kingdoms!
