For such a small island our heritage is strong and varied , we have chosen a few highlights for you as a taster to the full experience.

Castle Rushen

Castletown (Balla Cashtal) is the ancient capital of the Isle of Man and home to Castle Rushen.  One of the best preserved medieval castles in the world.

House of Manannan

Here, the Island’s mythological sea god, Manannan, welcomes you to his fascinating Kingdom.  Let him guide you through the Island’s rich Celtic, Viking and maritime past.

Manx Museum

The Manx Museum is bursting with artefacts and treasures unique to the Isle of Man.  The Island’s 10,000 year history is presented through film, galleries and interactive displays. The perfect starting point on your journey of discovery around our Island and its Viking and Celtic past.

Nautical Museum

Home of the world’s oldest yacht, the “Peggy” and her eccentric owner, the late Captain George Quayle.  Quayle was a politician, a banker, a soldier and allegedly a smuggler!

Cregneash

Cregneash is a living illustration of a farming and crofting community in the 19th and early 20th century. You will see plough horses, Loghtan sheep, shorthorn cows, pigs and Manx cats.

Laxey Wheel

The Great Laxey Wheel or Lady Isabella (as she is also known) is the largest working waterwheel in the world.  A brilliant example of Victorian engineering she was built in 1854 to pump water from the Laxey mines. Today a climb to the top is rewarded with panoramic views across the Laxey Valley.
